The San Francisco Giants have furthered the sweeping movement to make sports gay friendly by filming an "It Gets Better" video. While none of the players identify as gay, it's still a nice gesture.
I thought the multilingual aspects of the video were kind of cool too.
Outsports notes that the video might have been inspired by openly gay giants fan Sean Chapin's online petition; however the sports organization makes clear that they were mulling the idea of the video before the petition came to them.
Either way, congrats to the San Francisco Giants for becoming the first pro sports team to make a video.

Some Guy Tweets Nice Things About Gays
I find myself posting a lot about athletes showing their support for LGBTs, which is funny! Because I know jack shit about sports. However, I think that the recent rash of love for the gays from athletes (especially from the uber dreamy Ben Cohen) makes great strides towards convincing homophobes that gay people should be treated like humans too.
That said, here's an athlete I don't know and his Tweeted discussion of marriage equality. He makes a good point about anti-gay politicians and the fact that they're all giving beejes in public restrooms:
Maybe if this is how sports had been when I was a kid I might have played more.
Naaaaaaah.

Phoenix Suns CEO Is A Big Homo
58-year old Rick Welts, who began his career as a ball boy (snicker) for the Seattle Super Sonics, came out over the weekend, becoming the first prominent business leader in the world of sports to do so. His coming out has garnered not only praise from outside the industry, but tremendous support from within, from both the Suns franchise and NBA Commissioner David Stern.
"Alvin Gentry, who has been the Suns' head coach for 2½ seasons after joining the team in 2004 as an assistant coach, complimented Welts, saying the fact he is gay is beside the point."
"'I had a feeling about it,' Gentry told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard when asked if he knew Welts was gay. 'To me, what does it matter? I know he's great at his job; he's very organized and he does a brilliant job. To me, [his sexuality] is irrelevant.'"

Manuel Neuer: Another Straight Ally in Sports
The world of athletics finally appears to be catching up with the rest of us.
German footballer Manuel Neuer, 24, has joined in the call for gay athletes to come out of the closet:
"The 24-year-old told a German celebrity magazine that coming out would lift a great weight from gay players' shoulders, and that fans would soon accept it.
"'Yes, those who are gay should say so. It relieves a burden,' said Manuel Neuer in the magazine Bunte. 'And the fans will get over it quickly. What matters is the performance delivered by the player, not his sexual preference.'"
I love this trend of athletes coming out and standing with the queers lately... uh, if only because I get to post pictures of hot jocks. So sue me!
