Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand Launches "RepealDoma.com"-- Plus! Charlie Sheen Does Some Launching Of His Own

Kirsten Gillibrand (the anti-Jill Carter) launched a website taking advantage of the tactical hole left by Barry O's refusal to defend the Defense of Marriage Act in court.

Yay for her!  Check it out and add your name to the list of people furthering marriage equality for all Americans.  Or Charlie Sheen is going to get you-- he's got tiger blood you know.

[RepealDOMA]

Speaking of Charlie Sheen!

He launched a Twitter profile today and it's already one of the fastest growing feeds with over 177,000 followers-- and only one tweet.

It's this pic, with the caption, "Choose your vice."  WTF?

Baltimore Delegate Threatens To Kill Marriage Equality Bill. Plus! She's A Huge Stupid Bitch.

This is outrageous.

Baltimore Democrat Del. Jill Carter is exactly the kind of legislator you fear being in office-- one that is willing to sacrifice your rights and freedoms for a personal agenda.

"At a time when her colleagues on both sides of the aisle have debated the often-contentious issue of marriage equality with restraint, Carter today bailed on a committee vote and essentially took her ball and went home.

"The House Judiciary Committee was set to vote to advance the marriage equality bill to the floor; it has already passed in the Senate. Carter, who represents the deciding vote in committee, abandoned the session and is trying to force her colleagues into acting on two of her own pet bills before agreeing to a vote on marriage."

I don't know what her pet projects are and I don't care.  I mean, seriously-- what kind of cooter does this?  She's a freaking CO-SPONSOR of the bill!

She reminds me of Sally Field's character from Legally Blonde 2.  Way to sell out those puppies, Delegate Jill from Hell!  Or whatever.

Oh SHIT. It's Tuesday.

Shut the hell up.

Rep. Boehner Vows To Defund Net Neutrality

In a move that has some scratching their heads, Speaker Boehner of Clan Wingnut today blasted the FCC's net neutrality rules, threatening to defund them all in the name of protecting internet freedoms.

"'There is no compromise or middle ground when it comes to protecting our most basic freedoms,' Rep. Boehner said, adding that the Republican majority in the House was committed to fighting the new regulations.

"'We’re also going to do what we can to see that no taxpayer dollars are used to fund these net neutrality rules,' he said."

Whose freedoms is he protecting, exactly?  Fox News' freedom to have their content prioritized over YouTube's?  This just grosses me out-- he's totally trying to make a dime for himself and his friend by playing on the fears of the uneducated about Freedom of Speech.  I myself had to ask a friend exactly what was going on in this complicated issue-- can you imagine what Joe Blow thinks when Boehner runs around telling people the government is going to run the Internet?

Miscanthus:  This Isn't The "Grass" Your Mom Used To Use As "Biofuel"

Biofuels are all the rage, especially here in the Pacific Northwest, where friends of mine routinely flip off Hummers just to show that FOSSIL FUELS SUCK!!!11!!

The recent biofuel alternatives, however, have been less than stellar-- corn, for instance, drives up the already growing price of food, while having an awful environmental impact during its production.  Well, stand back, guys, cuz it's SCIENCE to the rescue!

In a recently published study, a grass called miscanthus has been vetted as an alternative fuel source-- with some startling results.

"Biofuel crops have the potential to offset the world's reliance on fossil fuels, increasing energy security and decreasing the risk of climate change. However, the choice of crops and target fuel can radically change their impact, as issues like fertilization and ease of processing come into play. But, as a paper released by PNAS points out, these aren't the only things that change when you shift the crop. The paper suggests that switching from corn to a perennial grass can alter the water cycle and sunlight absorption so dramatically that it will have a larger impact than the carbon emissions that biofuels avoid."

While the study makes some unrealistic assumptions-- for instance, replanting all arable land in the US with miscanthus-- it indicates that the benefits of switching our biofuel industry could be multiple, ranging from (of course) being an alternative to oil to actually increasing the albedo of our planet-- thus reducing the overall temperature.

Click the article on Ars Technica, it's pretty fascinating.

Watch Out, Ebay:  Used Electronics Can Now Be Hawked For Immediate Gratification

ecoATM, a new start-up based out of beautiful San Diego, has begun distributing futuristic kiosks that allow you to drop off your used electronics and receive cash-- instantly.

"It claims to offer highly competitive return rates, but its biggest value proposition may be the immediate gratification. From a consumer perspective, there’s very little reason not to use ecoATM over trying to hawk an old gadget online. The startup promises to wipe your device and spits out cash or store credit, no human contact required.

"The system isn’t perfect. ecoATM eats the cost on the returned devices it can’t resell, and the process can take a few a minutes (see below) — but it is working. In one year of testing, ecoATM has recycled more than 50,000 devices, according to CMO and co-founder Mark Bowles. Bowles and team are mum on what that translates to in financial terms, nor are they willing to share how much it costs to produce each kiosk or the exact margin they make on recycled devices."

Yowza!  Need beer money?  Drop off your Razor here!  Neat!

OneAngryClotheshorse's Red Carpet MADNESS - part 2

Hello lovers! Here's part 2 of my Oscar-fashion rant extravaganza. Part 1 can be found here. Remember - the only thing as wonderful as great fashion... is BAD FASHION.
In Part 1 of this post, I compared Lea Michele's heartbreaking sparkle-snake extravaganza to a Telemundo reject. Continuing that theme, Paz de la Huerta shows us her big Cha-Cha! Ay, dios mio. You don't see a lot of free-range vagina at awards shows these days. It's like a solar eclipse - I know I shouldn't stare directly at it but it's so unusual I can't look away. I wonder if it's intentional? Maybe she got in a bitchfight with Emma Stone and her dress got torn. That would also explain her makeup (or bruises, who knows?). Whatever happened, Paz looks SUPER grumpy about it... like a cow whose udders are sore because she hasn't been milked in a while. It would explain the lack of a bra... that shit has got to chafe.
Joan Collins in one of her old Dynasty costumes
YES! I hope I look half as good as she does when I'm dead. Seriously, this breathtaking vision is the incomparable Joan Collins - the only JC that matters. Check her out, judging the mere mortals around her. Deciding who lives... and who dies. I defy you to gaze upon this tower of feminine glory and not want to THROW THE BITCH INTO A LILY POND. Her dress DOES look like it could use watering.
Justin Timberlake in Tom Ford
Last but not least, bitches - check out THIS asshat. Clad in a wrinkled tux stolen from Lawrence Welk circa 1974, Justin Timberlake clearly thinks his shit don't stink. Look at that face. He knows he looks terrible. It's all just a big joke to him. You could smuggle children in those pants (or, judging by that goofy-ass grin, a big 'ol bong) and nobody would know. It's really saying something when a black tuxedo, white dress shirt, and black bow tie look THIS unfortunate.

I'm exhausted! Tearing up celebrities makes me SO thirsty. Thanks SO much for reading, loves... I'm going to go pour myself a Manhattan and find myself a sparkly caftan to play dress-up in.

KISSES!!!

Charlie Sheen's Flaming Fist of Fury

We've heard a lot about that delicious heap of man crazy, Charlie Sheen.  One of my fave quotes was the hilarious "flaming fists" quote (I've been to parties with lots of flaming fists, but that was something else entirely).  My friend Naite Heal, DJ, graphic artist, and all around genius made this poster and it is TEH AWESOME.  My adrenaline is pumping just looking at it!!!!1!!!

The Dick Is Back

You may remember Coughlan616 when back in December he broke down Peter Spriggs' Top Ten Myths about homosexuality and notably called him a "complete spacky shit-muncher."  Loves it!  Well now, Dick is back, and Tony Perkins better beware.

Grant Storms Admits His Hypocrisy

AHA!  Grant Storms, giving an interview after his arrest following an afternoon masturbathon in a children's park, was "tearful and apologetic" today, admitting "I'm a hypocrite."

"Storms said in a news conference Tuesday that he was not watching the children, but he did have his hand in his pants. He apologized to those he has hurt, and he said he was sorry for targeting Decadence, an annual gay festival in the French Quarter.

"Storms said he is seeking help for a problem with pornography, which he called a recent issue. He also said he is not living at home -- he held the news conference from a motel -- and he asked for the media to respect his privacy."

Holy shitballs-- for once not only does a disgraced conservative apologize for his mistakes, but he acknowledges that harassing a gay Pride celebration was a bad thing.  I mean, he's still a slimeball, but good for him.

OneAngryClotheshorse: The Oscars 2011

I'm back kids! With all of this Oscar tomfoolery going on, you MUST have been thinking "Gee, I wonder what Wesley Darling thinks of all of the Red Carpet fashions?"

Well, they were mostly pretty damn boring. Actresses in pretty dresses getting hot and bothered about little gold statuettes just don't raise my blood pressure. However, since I get one shot per week to rant on Ian's blog, I figured I'd share a few of my favorite looks anyway... terrible, terrible eyesores on mostly B-C-and Z list celebrities!

I don't tend to fall in love with pretty dresses, it's too easy. There were very few challenging, memorable outfits at the Academy Awards this year (safe is the new black, loves) and I would much rather honor those fallen soldiers of fashion who perished screaming in their hot-mess dresses. There's even one young man (A-list, no less!) who made me want to laugh, scream, and cry, simultaneously. Let's start the show!
Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture
My first victim of the night is Cate Blanchett. Always a risk-taker, Cate takes "architectural fashion" to a new level, choosing to house her breasts in what looks like a cross between a gazebo and a grotto from the Little Mermaid (if you look closely the little beads look more like barnacles!). She paints the whole mess lilac and strews yellow blossoms all about. Hidden in the center of the dress is a cleverly hidden string - pull it and the curtains spring apart like opening night on Broadway. Ta Da!
Gayle King in...who the hell cares?

Holy shit-on-a-shingle. This devastating siren, ladies and gentlemen, is Oprah's "Best Friend." They go everywhere together, yet Gayle leaves the house looking like this... Girl, you must have pissed your meal-ticket off BAD to be let out of the house in this. Starting at the top: her hair is simultaneously greasy AND frizzy (In her off-hours, Gayle is a lab animal for John Frieda) and she has terrible drugstore makeup, which is applied with a trowel and smeared to perfection. We arrive at the glorious fuckery that is her off-the-rack, Jessica McClintock-knockoff $35 prom dress, which is twisted, tortured, ruched, wrinkled, and coming apart at the hem. Her boobs hang listlessly, like moody, overweight teenagers. Continuing the theme of the depressed high school girl, she finishes the look with a gold snakeskin mini-backpack from Claire's.
Emma Stone in Chanel Fall 2009 Couture
It says a lot about how safe actresses are dressing at awards shows (particularly this one) that I had to pull the rest of my photos from the Vanity Fair Oscar After-party. I have no idea who this crazy broad is but I want to party with HER. Look at that face. She has been drinking since 9 o'clock in the morning, can barely stand on her PRECIOUS little purple pumps, just got fucked in the back of the limo, and has something bitchy to say about EVERY A-list actress she walks past. This is the kind of girl you have to watch out for, or she'll put out her cigarette on your arm when you're not looking. Or even if you are. She doesn't give a fuck. Meanwhile, honey... it looks like you tucked the back of your dress into your pantyhose. Also, the fireworks going off on your tits are a little distracting.
Lea Michele in Roberto Cavalli
Oh honey NO. Snakes look that way in nature for a reason - it's God's way of saying "Don't touch me, I will kill you." This dress is AWFUL on her, which makes me so sad because she's one of my favorite actresses ever. THIS IS RACHEL FROM GLEE looking like a Telemundo reality show reject, wearing Dorothy Zbornak's favorite caftan. She has been getting a lot of flak lately for wearing dresses that are SUPER sexy, (check out the cover of Cosmopolitan for March) so maybe she's just given up on being hot. She honestly looks like she threw on a pair of Liberace's pajamas, put her hair in a scrunchie, and slumped out the door. She probably has a pair of fuzzy pink bunny rabbit slippers on under the dress.
Anika Noni Rose in a skinned muppet.

I wasn't going to write about Ms. Rose (Noni Rose?) but I had to say SOMETHING. After all, Big Bird died to make this dress. The least I could do was provide a short obituary. The orange satin is pretty on her though...pity it had to be trimmed with one of my childhood heroes.

Later today: Wesley Darling puts the smack down on ladies who think the "unmilked cow" look is perfect for the spring season and one unlucky gentleman who wanted to wear a gunny sack on his big night. Stay tuned!

New Orleans Anti-Gay Pastor Is A Big 'Ol Perv

These punks just don't surprise me anymore.

Pastor Grant Storms has been an annual spectacle at the gay Southern Decadence celebration taking place in the Big Easy every year, picketing and shouting hellfire and brimstone at attendees.  Of course, like every vocal "family values" nutjob, he had a few skeletons in the closet.  Namely, he enjoys the outdoors, strolls in the park, and masturbating in front of children in said parks.

"Storms, 53, of 2304 Green Acres Road in Metairie, was taken into custody at Lafreniere Park after two women reported seeing him masturbating in the driver's seat of his van, which was parked near the carousel and playground, a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office report said.

"The first woman told deputies she was taking her children to the playground and parked next to the van at about noon. As she was walking around her own vehicle, she noticed the van windows were down and the occupant was 'looking at the playground area that contained children playing, with his zipper down...,' the report said. The woman noted that he was masturbating and quickly ushered her children out of her car."

While some of these "caught you!" scenarios are just plain silly-- think Larry "Wide Stance" Craig-- this is just chilling.  These figures are trusted around children.  Now, when someone proclaims "I believe in family values!" I automatically start wondering whether they are frequenting hookers, gay, frequenting gay hookers, meth users, or creepy window wankers.

The funniest comment so far is from the article below:  "@ltdanchoi, I'd recommend picketing his anti-gay church, but he might masturbate on you and your children."

How Did I Miss This?

Did you hear this crap?

The same legislator who decided that each and every miscarriage should be investigated by the police to make sure there wasn't human involvement (does he even understand that there's a budget crisis going on?) took his crazy a step further and suggested criminal penalties unless that woman can definitely prove she didn't instigate her "prenatal murder."

And guess what those penalties could include?  That's right.  Execution.

"It's only February, but this year has been a tough one for women's health and reproductive rights. There's a new bill on the block that may have reached the apex (I hope) of woman-hating craziness. Georgia State Rep. Bobby Franklin—who last year proposed making rape and domestic violence 'victims' into 'accusers'—has introduced a 10-page bill that would criminalize miscarriages and make abortions in Georgia completely illegal. Both miscarriages and abortions would be potentially punishable by death: any 'prenatal murder' in the words of the bill, including 'human involvement' in a miscarriage, would be a felony and carry a penalty of life in prison or death. Basically, it's everything an "pro-life" activist could want aside from making all women who've had abortions wear big red 'A's on their chests."

Are you fucking kidding me?  Bobby Franklin has completely passed out of the realm of "conservative politician" and into the realm of "disgusting human being who should just live somewhere else."  First you take away a woman's ability to claim victimhood in sexual assault, then he wants to wantonly murder women-- unless they can absolutely prove they didn't coathanger their fetus.

Yes, he is married.  I wonder what it must be like to be a woman in that marriage.  I'm waiting for the inevitable wife-beating or cheating scandal to break on this loon, there has to be one somewhere.

Britain's First Gay Cricketer

In a direct contrast with what we seem to see in American football, British cricket fans has a new gay role-model:  Steve Davies.

Citing Welsh Rugby player Gareth Thomas as an inspiration (he came out last year) Davies stated that after coming out five years previous to his family and gaining their support, he no longer had a desire to hide who he is.

"Davies told The Sun: 'I'm comfortable with who I am and happy to say who I am in public.

"'To speak out is a massive relief for me, but if I can just help one person to deal with their sexuality then that's all I care about.'"

Plus, he's just presh.  Look at him!  I would totally let him cricket the hell outta me.

Wyoming Hate Legislation Dies In House

Gays in Wyoming have gotten a small reprieve today, as key legislation that would ban the recognition of same-sex unions performed in outside states failed to pass the required two-thirds majority in their House.

"The Wyoming House adjourned without taking action on a same-sex marriage bill that had already passed the state Senate. Passing the measure would have required a two-thirds vote in both houses.

"House Majority Floor Leader Rep. Tom Lubnau, R-Gillette, said he didn't want to spend hours of floor time debating a bill that didn't have the votes to pass. The Legislature is set to adjourn next week.

"Another bill was still pending that would change Wyoming law to specify that the state would only recognize marriages between one man and one woman. Disagreement remained between the House and Senate over whether the state should allow same-sex couples who entered civil unions elsewhere to have access to the state court system to resolve any issues that arise in their relationships."

Maybe Wyoming finally learned the lesson that Matthew Shepard's death failed to teach them-- discrimination just isn't good business.

USC Quarterback Is Confused About The Words "Discriminating" and "Homophobe"

I learned a new Twitterism thanks to USC Quarterback Matt Barkley!

Smh of course, meaning, "Shaking my head."

Barkley immediately came under fire from his feed's followers, prompting him to say "look bro, I'm not discriminating and I'm not a homophobe. I'm standing up for what I believe. Cool down..."

Really, Barkley?  So if you're expressing dismay at the governments refusal to oppress its citizens, that's what, if not discrimination?  Sometimes "standing up for what you believe," while admirable, is still fucking discrimination, dummy.  "Cool down?"  Really?  You're supporting making gays second-class citizens and we're supposed to just be like, "Oh, hey man, it's cool!"

Let this be a lesson to athletes:  If you want to comment on shit that ain't your sport, at least have a brain about it.  Geez.
