Joseph Crowley manages to make just about every point I've had about the GOP over the past three months in a 78-second speech without speaking a word. Check it out, I applauded at the end.

Ben Cohen Has Something to Say to Kobe
Kobe Bryant really stuck his shoe in it the other night. After receiving a technical foul, he tossed his towel to the floor and called the referee a "fucking fag." Well, it was caught on camera (at the :33 mark) and people got PISSED.
He since released a statement that, while not quite an apology, explained he didn't mean it as a slight to LGBT people and he hopes no-one was offended.
Here's a clue, Kobe: Fag is an offensive word. People WILL get offended, and you just shouldn't use it.
Ben Cohen, international rugby star, agrees.
"It is disappointing to see this. As a professional athlete and rugby World Cup champion, I understand the heat and passion of competition at the highest levels. But we must all remember that strong bodies must be balanced with strong characters, and work toward that end. Our positions as role models demand it."
Plus he's cute. See? See what I mean? If you love the gays you get cuter. I think this is a great quote-- more athletes could better benefit by working on having a stronger character. Don't make me sic Matthew Mitcham on your ass, Kobe!

Amputees Are Hot. Who Knew?
Evidently Thierry Mugler (say that three times fast) from A*Men Fragrance.
I don't know if this stinkum smells good- but their Paralympic World Champion sprinter sure LOOKS good. Look at him! I would totes polish up those prosthetics for him. Maybe paint them a nice color. I think he's THAT hot.

OneAngryCultist: Mubarak Leaves Town
Note: Since the whole kerfuffle surrounding Egypt, Ian Awesome has been profoundly effected by these events leaving me (the OneAngryCultist) to report on the Mubarak step-down in the sudden event of Ian's incapacitation. Ian is currently stabilized after spending hours rocking back and forth mumbling about flying carpets and camel spiders.
According to, well, every news source right now, Mubarak has officially stepped down from his office as president of Egypt as of 18:00 pm Cairo local time (GMT+2) 11:00 am. Vice President Omar Suleiman announced the news on the TeeVees saying:
"In these difficult circumstances that the country is passing through, President Hosni Mubarak has decided to leave the position of the presidency... He has commissioned the armed forces council to direct the issues of the state."

Interestingly enough, before leaving Egypt (which he said he would never do in a million years) Mubarak did manage to take a nice little vacation in a posh hotel near the Red Sea where, you know, thousands have taken their exodus before him.
A special shout-out to the Egyptian People: "CONGRATULATIONS! You've won your freedom - now start making cool ass changes so we can come join the parties I expect you to be having for months on top of the pyramids." Also, doesn't this guy look hot? Just sayin'...

In related news, according to the Wall Street Journal: "NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--U.S. stocks popped higher Friday after Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak stepped down from power, sparking celebrations in Cairo and relief among investors."
Moral of the Story: Tyranny Never Pays.
THE END.

Genghis Khan: Environmentally Friendly?
A neat study came out indicating that Genghis Khan's bloodthirsty invasion of, uh, the entire WORLD actually did the planet some good.
"Genghis Khan has been branded the greenest invader in history - after his murderous conquests killed so many people that huge swathes of cultivated land returned to forest.
"The Mongol leader, who established a vast empire between the 13th and 14th centuries, helped remove nearly 700 million tons of carbon from the atmosphere, claims a new study.
"The deaths of 40 million people meant that large areas of cultivated land grew thick once again with trees, which absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. And, although his methods may be difficult for environmentalists to accept, ecologists believe it may be the first ever case of successful manmade global cooling."
Click on the link below to read the whole article, it's very science and very cool. However, I'm glad this relationship of depopulation/carbon emissions didn't come to light during the LAST presidency-- while we may have seen a flip-flop on the right's climate change policies, it wouldn't have ended well. Can't you just see His Royal Highness George II suddenly deciding we needed to invade Iran to save the forests?

Heh heh. You got me all wrong! I believed in global warming the whole time! Save the... uh... whales?
